INTERVENTION PROGRAMME MODULE- WORKING TOWARDS PL5 READING

Assalammualaikum and hi teachers.

Being an English teacher, is a challenging experience for me. Although I've been teaching almost 5 years, I'm still learning. Frankly speaking, I do miss my science classes and activities.

Well, life must go on, old folk said. hehehehe..

This year, I 'm planning to share everything that I do at school. Here's my sharing today.

I CAN READ - (MODULE 2 INTERVENTION PROGRAMME FOR ENGLISH YEAR 1)


I make a module for intermediate pupils in my class.

They achieved PL3 and some PL4. They can read the sight words but not all. They can say a few simple words but struggle to spell without looking at the words. Most likely they need guidance.

They are lack of confidence. They did not want to read in front unless they know the words. (some) Again, they need guidance.

Let's see the descriptors to improve them to PL5.



They should be able to read, write and speak using the language with little or no guidance.

What are the contents in this 39 pages module?

In this module, I had prepared 7 reading fluency text for all topics in Year 1. From these texts, teacher can check how far your pupils reading progress. If they are fluent enough, they don't need this module. Teacher may plan other writing module for them to score well.


This module, I make them repeat the same words several times. There also questions related to the material that they read. The question is very simple so that it will not consume extra times. (we will conduct this in the class, as well as our PBD activities, fuh, very challenging!)

Pupils can bring back this module and read at home. Hopefully parents interference in reading can improve pupil's fluency.

Module for Intervention Programme PBD English Year 1 (Working towards PL3)

Assalammualaikum teachers,

Hi teachers,

Alhamdulillah, it's our job to plan the lesson and do the intervention for our pupils. I made one module for PL1 and PL2 pupils. This module is named Read Right Book. Pupils read and also write here.



PL1 and PL2 pupils usually have short term memory. Some of them look at the words as flying letters. By taking into considerations of both reasons, I plan this module as below.



The word 'is' for example is seen by pupils as flying letters of 'i and s'. Therefore the letters need to be collected together for them to pronounce as 'is'.

GOOGLE ASSISTANT ASSISTS TEACHERS IN SPEAKING SKILLS (PL6)

Assalammualaikum and hi teachers.

Have you heard about Google Assistant? (GA)

No?


 It is developed by Google in May 2016. People use GA to search things by speaking. GA is also friendly, so you can have a chat with her too.

Recently, I applied Google Assistant in my class, to assess pupils' speaking skills for performance level 6.

As I only taught Year 1 classes, I did not expect pupils to speak fluent with (GA). I predict pupils will be able to use the target languages and if pupils are advanced, they will add their own questions hopefully. Up until end of June, my pupils already learnt three topics, Friends, At School and Let's Play.

Before I explain how to use GA in the class, let us read the descriptor for performance level 6.


Based on the descriptors, I am pointing out the point no 2, where pupils ask and answer straight forward questions using fixed phrases with ease and great confidence.

I'm looking for pupils with ease and great confidence in speaking English.

First, I show them how GA works. Therefore, I am using my own smart phone, OPPO F7.

One candidate  for PL6 will ask any questions they know after hitting the mic icon. During this activity, other pupils were coming to see how it works (although they were doing other worksheet, curiosity!! hehehehe)

Surprisingly, three pupils that I tested were able to ask questions with ease and great confidence.

 I guess they will start hunting for their mum's hp just to talk with GA..hihihihi..

How amazing technologies nowadays. Love it!


Below is the screenshot of the conversation with GA. Simple questions as what they had learnt in the class. If they use their own questions, it's a bonus.

Pupils had to speak clearly so that GA understood the language. Sometimes she miss interpret the questions asked.

What do you think? Is it an effective way to assess pupils speaking skills beside communication with their classmates? For me, it is an alternative and fun too.

Belum sampai seru!


Assalammualaikum wbt.

Salam sejahtera.

BELUM SAMPAI SERU!

Bermula 1 Julai 2019. Fasa baru dalam kehidupan seorang guru apabila kebiasaannya Frog VLE sentiasa meniti di bibir pihak pentadbiran, kini tinggal kenangan hehehe..seperti Lagu Saleem pula ya. Nak capai KPI penggunaan la. Macam-macam dikerah. Ilmu dicurah. Majlis pelancaran dibuat. Ibubapa diberi pendedahan.

Ya macam-macam dah buat. Itu lah bab teknologi ni, kita tidak boleh paksa. Sesetengah orang belum terbuka minda lagi. Seperti murid yang mempunyai pelbagai aras kecerdasan, begitupun guru. Ada yang cepat penerimaannya. Ada yang buat tak tau. Tapi kita tidak boleh menyalahkan mereka. Mungkin mereka ada pengalaman kurang manis dengan teknologi ini. Mungkin data internet mereka tidak cukup kuat. Mungkin kekangan akses internet. Mungkin belum sampai seru.

Saya sendiri lambat sampai seru. Sebelum ini, di awal penggunaan frog vle, saya pun sejenis buat tak tahu. Tak nampak pun apa gunanya. Mana tidaknya, asalkan rph siap, lembaran kerja ada, sudah lah. Saya tidak terfikir langsung tentang pentingnya ada DRIVE unlimited. Ada fungsi add on ke tak. Google form ke jauh sekali. Langsung saya tidak tahu.

Buat site jauh sekali. Malah sampai satu ketika, password dan email yes pun saya taktahu apa dia. Itu di zaman saya ada anak kecil-kecil. Setahun seorang lahir. Mana mungkin sempat saya teroka semua itu. Oleh itu, saya amat faham tentang kekangan sesetengah orang yang tidak ambil tahu tentang teknologi.

Sebab tu saya gunakan ayat belum sampai seru. Tugas cikgu-cikgu yang celik it inilah yang perlu bimbing guru-guru di sekolah sama-sama menggerak teknologi. Dalam tempoh interim ni, sama-sama kutip ilmu google classroom yang ternyata digunakan meluas oleh sekolah-sekolah lain di luar sana. Platform percuma yang banyak manfaatnya.

Ada sekolah yang telah menggunakan Google Classroom untuk erph, epbd, latihan kepada pelajar dan sesi perkongsian dengan waris. Tapi percayalah perjalanan penggerak di sekolah tersebut juga tidak mudah seperti yang disangka. Teruskan cerita kebaikan teknologi khasnya platform Google yang amat bermanfaat.

Saya sendiri masih belajar. Sungguh, jika tidak sampai serunya, saya pun masih buat tak tahu tentang semua anak-anak Google yang ada. Name it..Google Classroom, Google form, Google Sheets, Google Site, Google Slides, Google Translate, Google Assistant, Google Map, Google Photos. Rasa macam ada lagi tapi tak tertulis di sini…hihihi…

Apa pun, setiap sesuatu yang berlaku pasti ada sebabnya. Bagaimana sampai seru saya?

Bila saya perlu buat form untuk projek di sekolah. Dari situ saya mulai belajar dari You Tube.  Kesemua video yang saya lihat adalah video Bahasa Inggeris. Dari situ saya berniat untuk sharing sebanyak mungkin info supaya orang lain boleh sampai seru juga. Hehehe.. Saya merancang untuk menggunakan Bahasa Melayu supaya lebih ramai yang tahu.
Perlahan-lahan ilmu masuk. Kemudian, saya sertai taklimat erph dan dalam masa sekejap saya dah faham tentang DRIVE. Tentang sharing link, duplicate tab, Google Sheets.. Menderu ilmu itu masuk asbab saya merancang untuk berkongsi. Sungguh Allah bantu. Saya percaya semakin saya berkongsi semakin banyak ilmu masuk. Bagi saya dapat ilmu pun satu rezeki. Walaupun ia tidak menambahkan duit poket saya, rezeki ilmu membuatkan saya bersemangat semula.

InsyaAllah, orang lain pun pasti akan sampai serunya!

Teruskan berkongsi betapa mudahnya teknologi dalam kehidupan seorang guru jika dimanfaatkan sepenuhnya.

Khasnya, penggunaan teknologi dalam pentaksiran bilik darjah. Sangat berguna. Di bawah adalah contoh di mana saya menggunakan kemudahan yang disediakan Google/ Telegram/Blog/Facebook dan ada yang belum saya gunakan tetapi merancang untuk mengaplikasinya.

  • -          Gunakan Google Sheets share template
  • -          Gunakan Google sites untuk semakan PBD secara online
  • -          Gunakan Google form sebagai rekod perkembangan murid/ transit form
  • -          Gunakan Google Sheets sebagai e lesson plan
  • -          Gunakan Google Classroom untuk perkongsian PLC panitia/intervensi
  • -          Gunakan Google form untuk kehadiran murid kokurikulum/ibubapa/kelas tambahan/guru
  • -          Gunakan Google Form untuk PILL
  • -          Gunakan Google Sheets sebagai borang transit versi gambar
  • -          Gunakan Blog sebagai tempat simpanan bahan di samping berkongsi dengan guru lain
  • -          Gunakan Telegram Private Group untuk simpan link e borang/ password atau gambar
  • -          Gunakan Evernote apps sebagai simpanan lembaran kerja, voice audio selepas PBD dan hasil kerja murid.
  • -          Gunakan Google Assistant untuk menguji Skill Speaking murid TP 6.
  • -          Gunakan Facebook untuk simpanan gambar aktiviti sekolah. Walaupun beratus gambar ada dalam FB, lebih mudah cari gambar di situ berbanding simpan dalam Google Photos.
  • -          Gunakan Google DRIVE untuk simpan data PBS dan PBD sepanjang tahun. Setakat ni dah ada data untuk dua tahun. (baru dua tahun celik teknologi. Hehehehe)
  • -          Gunakan Onedrive untuk buka excel secara online (template PBD online)
  • -          Tambahan Cloud Printer untuk mencetak dokumen atau gambar langsung dari telefon pintar.


Bagi yang berminat, cuba dahulu menggunakan teknologi yang ada. Masa mula-mula belajar, gunakan laptop dahulu. Selepas sudah mahir, guna telefon pintar pun semudah ABC. Segalanya di hujung jari.
